October, 2026
Health insurance is changing quickly, and 2026 is an important year for customers
reviewing their medical protection. From health insurance GST 2026
to rising healthcare costs, better cashless facilities and the need for adequate
coverage, policyholders should look beyond just the premium while choosing or
renewing a plan.
One of the biggest changes is the GST exemption on individual health insurance
policies, including family floater plans. From 22 September 2025, the earlier
18% GST was removed from eligible individual health insurance premiums, helping
make policies more affordable.
At the same time, concerns around health insurance premium increase 2026
remain relevant. Premiums may vary because of factors such as age, medical costs,
policy features and insurer pricing. Customers should therefore compare the
premium along with the sum insured, waiting periods, exclusions and co-payment
conditions.
Another important consideration is cashless health insurance 2026.
Cashless treatment can reduce the need to arrange large amounts of money during
hospitalisation, as eligible expenses may be settled directly between the insurer
and hospital, subject to policy terms and approval.
Finally, customers should regularly review their
health insurance coverage 2026. A policy that was sufficient a few
years ago may not provide enough protection today, especially with increasing
hospital and treatment expenses.
